Close encounters with aliens
The Monguzzi case
Giampiero Monguzzi was an engineer of the Edison, a former submariner, mountaineering enthusiast and father of a child at the time.
On 31 July 1952 he and his wife Pinuccia Radaelli were on the mountains of Bernina (SO) for a hike in the mountains. Giampiero suddenly felt a chill breeze accompanied by a sound like the rigging of an old sailing ship, then all of a sudden eerie silence.
Giampiero shouted to nearby wife but she could not hear; she opened her mouth but no words came out.
Here they saw a UFO to land 10 meters in diameter at the bottom of Pizzo Scerscen.. Giampiero who had his camera, took a picture with no audible “click.” They watched amazed until a human figure covered by a metal diving suit moved toward them.
They wanted to flee, but fear kept them pinned to the ground, but the humanoid turned and walked down the outside as hard to inspect. He walked awkwardly with an object similar to a flashlight in his hand and sometimes raised his head towards the top of the aircraft, then back into the disk at this point Monguzzi snapped two other photo noting at the bottom of a section whirling, then the UFO disappeared in the sky at an estimated speed engineer between 200 and 300 kph, while the two regained communication. Intrigued, the couple approached the landing site but found no signs in the snow.
A few weeks later the engineer told of his sighting to the press and the interest was enormous. French agency offered him 5 million pounds to acquire pictures, became interested in the American media and even a film company is said ready to make a documentary.
Guest at Radio Evening, October 22, 1952 recanted all telling to have devised a scam with a cardboard model, wire and wool, helped by the cousins, Mario and Alfredo Gaiani, and a mountain guide.
The reason would be his secret ambition to become a journalist. To corroborate this alleged fake was added a colleague of Monguzzi, such Antonio Spreacane. He said that one day he called because he wanted to be helped in the creation of a model, to show he had photographed a flying saucer on the mouth of the Scerscen, to limit the Icefall. He said he did it to prove of being a good photographer. However, the same Spreacane was puzzled because he had seen the original negatives of the photos, which were taken in sequence alternated with those of a normal range, and above all no doubt taken in the mountains.
The major concern was that it would be impossible to recreate a model with the same slope photographed. He had also seen the model and found him ridiculous and totally different from the photos.
Monguzzi fact was even interrogated by CIA agents and our Secret Service, they told him that the Air Force had made even the wall enlargements of his photos. Frightened, the engineer pulled out and staged the farce of the model. Its executives who first lined up to be photographed with Monguzzi, fired him and disappeared from the media. Spreacane was also questioned by Edison executives who wanted to know his role in the affair.
The fact is that Monguzzi disappeared in a mysterious car accident, and the real story was never known.
